Texas head coach Charlie Strong potentially could have saved his job with a win over TCU and a bowl berth, but the Longhorns fell 31-9. With the loss likely meaning Strong will be fired, after the game he compared himself to another coach who wasn't well liked by the boosters and didn't quite win enough

Strong would probably know about that comparison the best considering he was the defensive coordinator for Zook at Florida in 2003 and 2004. Strong even assumed the interim role for the 2005 Peach Bowl after Zook was fired at the end of the 2004 season.

However, Zook never had a losing season and went 23-14 in Gainesville while Strong has not had a winning season with a 16-21 record.
