Charlie Strong has rallied Texas in the recruiting rankings on National Signing Day

The demise of Charlie Strong's recruiting ability has be greatly exaggerated.

The Longhorns started off on fire early on National Signing Day, gaining commitments from several four-star recruits before noon. The new commitments — plus two from the past week — have shot Texas up the recruiting rankings at 247Sports. Just a week ago, the Longhorns ranked No. 35 for the 2016 class, but now they are up to No. 10.

Here are the commits Texas has gotten so far just today:

Brandon Jones, four-star safety, No. 40 overall recruit
Jeffrey McCulloch, four-star linebacker, No. 59 overall recruit
Erick Fowler, four-star linebacker, No. 75 overall recruit
Chris Daniels, four-star defensive tackle, No. 183 overall recruit
Marcel Southall, three-star defensvie tackle, No. 489 overall recruit

Even if Texas does not get any more big commitments today, this is definitely a step up from what they were looking at just a few days ago.
