Colin Kaepernick's biological mother Heidi Russo, who gave him up for adoption five weeks after giving birth, has joined the millions who have opined about the quarterback's decision to sit through the national anthem on Friday.

Russo has sent out a series of tweets over the last couple of days about Kaepernick's stance, even saying he "[brought] shame to the very country & family who afforded you so many blessings."

Some have criticized Russo for her tweets, with one woman saying that giving her son up for adoption was "giving up."
