Duke to lose another player to draft, this one most questionable of all

This is killing Duke.

Duke had quite a few potential NBA players on its roster this past season like Jayson Tatum, Grayson Allen, Luke Kennard and Harry Giles. The last of which has now officially declared for the NBA Draft despite a serious stock fall after a knee surgery to begin the season and fear of his athleticism being lost.

Giles was the No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2016, but endured an ACL tear in his sophomore year of high school as well as a tear in his other ACL his senior year of high school. He only played in 26 of Duke's 37 games because of knee surgery and never quite got the minutes he needed to assure scouts and teams that he was fully recovered from the surgery.

This is the fourth loss for Duke this offseason with Chase Jeter and Sean Obi transferring while Jayson Tatum also declared for the NBA Draft. Giles' stock has dropped with many people believing he could fall as far as the end of the first round, but a lot of people have him as a mid-first rounder because he did shows signs of bounce and getting his athleticism back towards the end of the season.

He only averaged 11.5 minutes per game for the season, which led to small numbers like 3.9 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game, but his per-40 minutes stats look a lot better. He showed great hustle and a strong motor while he was in games, but teams will be drafting him on his pure potential with the hope he gets all of his bounce and movement back by the time he's needed on the court in a big role.
