Ed Orgeron's deal reportedly includes caveat that could shift the power in college football

That's a caveat he probably likes too.

Ever since Ed Orgeron was hired to become the permanent head coach for LSU football, there have been tons of rumors swirling about who he will add to his staff. Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda has already been re-signed for three years to join Orgeron so now comes the hiring for an offensive coordinator.

The rumors in those regards have been mostly signaling that Lane Kiffin will become the offensive coordinator considering the connections the two have as buddies and former colleagues. Both were on the same staff at USC and at Tennessee. According to Jimmy Hyams of WNML in Knoxville, that's looking like a strong possibility and could have been why Orgeron got the job in the first place.

LSU has also been rumored to be getting an offer ready for Kiffin that would make him the highest paid assistant coach in the country at $2 million a year. Kiffin's current contract with Alabama also runs up in February, which could make it easier to hire him and not have to pay some sort of buyout to Alabama.
