Florida fans know by now that Luke Del Rio will not get the start this weekend against South Carolina and Austin Appleby will be taking his place. That means one of two freshmen will play as the backup in either Kyle Trask or Feleipe Franks.

It seems we know which one will get the call as backup and it's the highly touted four-star, pro-style QB in Feleipe Franks. The former LSU commit hasn't gotten the chance to start like most people thought would happen, but could show off his worth should Appleby go down or become ineffective against the Gamecocks.
McElwain clarifies and says Appleby will take first snaps. RE, Franks: 'We’re not afraid at any point of him playing.' #Gators

McElwain isn't always clear. I interpreted his comments as this: Appleby starts. Franks getting more reps in practice. Could play, might not

This would likely burn a redshirt they were saving for Franks and could upset people more with only three regular season games left to play. If coach Jim McElwain was going to play him, he probably should have done it already.
