Florida has had the worst quarterback luck since the legendary Tim Tebow left campus after the 2009 season. They've gone through a ringer of QBs in John Brantley, Jeff Driskel, Treon Harris, Will Grier, Tyler Murphy and Austin Appleby. None of those names instill fear in an opponent except for maybe Grier who ended up transferring after his PED suspension.

Luke Del Rio is also in that group of QBs as he played six games this past year through a few different injuries. It seems that his shoulder injury is severe enough to warrant surgery.
That leaves a two-man race in the spring for the quarterback position. Rising sophomores (or redshirt freshmen if they're given the redshirt designation) Kyle Trask and Feleipe Franks will get to battle it out for the starting spot and will get the chance to show what they've learned in their first year on campus in the spring game.
Franks was the higher ranked recruit as a four-star pro-style QB out of Crawfordville, Fla. Trask was a three-star pro-style QB out of Manvel, Texas. Both are about 6'6", but Franks is believed to have the bigger arm of the two while Trask has had better accuracy in practices.
