The names have begun swirling for who might replace Les Miles in Baton Rouge.

And SEC Network analyst Booger McFarland, a former LSU standout, says Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin is the candidate that intrigues him the most.
Kiffin's name, however, is likely to be met with jeers and boos from the Tiger faithful. The 41-year-old Kiffin's record as a head coach is, to put it kindly, spotty.
In one year at Tennessee (2009) and four at USC, Kiffin compiled a 35-21 record. His pro coaching career with the Oakland Raiders (2007-08), wasn't much better, as he went 5-15. All three stints ended unceremoniously, and were steeped in controversy. Nevertheless, Kiffin's two-plus seasons with Nick Saban have been fruitful.

And as McFarland points out, Saban could be the key to Kiffin's future as a head coach.
"The key will be, can Saban vouch for him enough?" McFarland opined. "He wants a big job. The key is —-does Saban vouch for him get him over the top?"
Whatever happens, McFarland's right in one respect; a Kiffin vs Saban SEC West rivalry makes Kiffin the hands-down most intriguing candidate to succeed Miles at this point.
