Four-star CB Sevyn Banks stuns FSU, Florida by announcing out-of-state commitment

Banks is one of the top recruits out of the state of Florida.

One of the top talents in the state of Florida appears to be heading north.

On Wednesday evening, four-star cornerback Sevyn Banks (6-foot-1, 180 pounds, Orlando, Fla.) spurned apparent favorites Florida and Florida State when he announced his commitment to Ohio State.

Over the past couple of months, Banks had visited both Florida and Florida State, but it looks like a recent visit with Urban Meyer in Columbus helped the Buckeyes seal the deal on this top recruit.

Banks is rated as a composite four-star, and his main strength is his athleticism. Banks rated as one of the top recruits at the Orlando version of Nike's The Opening event in February, with Banks' top attributes being a 4.5 in the 40 and a 42-inch vertical leap.

With the commitment of Banks and four-star Brenton Cox this week, Ohio State now has nine members in their 2018 recruiting class. They have moved up to the No. 4 spot in the recruiting rankings over at 247Sports.
