The Arizona Cardinals tied the Seattle Seahawks in a scintillating and thrilling horrible 6-6 overtime slugfest that could easily be compared to watching two drunks fight in an alley.
After the loss, it wasn't the missed field goal late, or the blocked punt that Arians wanted to chat about. It was the blocked field goal in the second quarter, where Bobby Wagner hopped over the line of scrimmage and slapped away Chandler Catanzaro's kick.
Officials originally threw a flag, picked it up, Arians threw a challenge flag and was charged a timeout since it wasn't a reviewable play.
While officials had it right, that Wagner wasn't within a yard of the line of scrimmage, Arians maintained the penalty was because Wagner touched the long snapper (which he did with his foot while leaping over). By rule, players are only prohibited from "landing" on the opposition. That caused Arians to lose it in the post-game presser, per Deadspin:
"He touched him," Arians said. "You saw it. Did you see it? Didn't he touch him? Yeah, he sure did. It sure looked like it to me, but it was not ruled that way, same with the last one. He definitely touched him.
"I'm sure I'll talk to the league and we'll get some kind of explanation that is all bullshit, like normal."
Arians should go ahead and get his checkbook out, as he'll be donating some money after this one.
