The annual battle between the Michigan Wolverines and the Michigan State Spartans had it all on Saturday. For starters, the Michigan State faithful in attendance in East Lansing put forth a chant that wasn't exactly kind to Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and, after the game, Wolverines cornerback Jourdan Lewis put the Michigan State squad on blast with a social media jab for the ages.

On the field, however, the star of the day was Jabrill Peppers and the do-everything athlete did something that no college football player had accomplished in a decade.

Peppers has been the best player on Michigan's roster throughout an undefeated start and he contributed one of the more memorable plays of the season in taking Michigan State's failed two-point conversion to the house in the final seconds of the rivalry victory. Prior to that, he had three tackles for loss, a hugely important sack and a touchdown run, in addition to his always strong work on special teams.
While Peppers does not have the traditional profile of a Heisman Trophy candidate, he is certainly in the mix for the honor in 2016, especially if the Wolverines are able to post an undefeated season. There is a long way to go before the ceremony in New York, but on this day in East Lansing, Jabrill Peppers was, again, an incredible individual force.
