Jacob Eason is seizing hold of the starting job at Georgia after Wednesday's practice

Could it really be happening?

Jacob Eason's stranglehold on the top quarterback spot going into the season seems to be getting tighter. The heralded freshman impressed in practice on Wednesday and he took all of the first team reps, at least when the media was present.

Georgia opens the season against North Carolina Sept. 3 and could very well become the starting quarterback for the rest of his time in Athens. We will have to keep a close eye on Greyson Lambert and Brice Ramsey to see if they get any reps with the first team over the next few weeks of practice.

Coach Kirby Smart likely wouldn't name a starting quarterback anyway even if it had become clear someone was ahead of the pack. We likely won't find out until the week of the game who the starter will be, but this might be the date it unofficially became Eason.
