Key Texas starter arrested on Friday for DWI

The arrest occurred on Friday morning.

Texas Longhorns offensive lineman Kent Perkins was arrested on Friday morning in Austin for driving while intoxicated. Perkins was arrest at around 3:00 a.m. local time, and booked in Travis County Jail a couple of hours later.

KVUE out of Texas was first to report the arrest.

Texas has yet to announce a potential suspension, but head coach Charlie Strong did release a statement.

"We're disappointed in his actions and take a strong stance against drinking and driving," Strong said. "When you get behind the wheel after drinking, you not only risk your life, but the lives of others, and that's something you just can't do."

Perkins has been a starter for Texas for almost every game since 2014. Texas has this week off, but will play at Oklahoma State next Saturday.
