Is he mad?

Lane Kiffin has his work cut out for him at Florida Atlantic if he wants to turn the Owls into a national brand in the college football world. Kiffin is extremely charismatic and he has enjoyed success elsewhere, but in the same breath, this will easily be his biggest challenge as he moves down in level when compared to his other jobs in the sport.

With that in mind, it appears that Kiffin is going an unconventional route in recruiting and it includes offering a 13-year-old quarterback a scholarship.

As noted by Bruce Feldman of FOX, Kiffin's target is Kaden Martin, who happens to be the son of former Tennessee quarterback Tee Martin. It is far too early to credibly tell if Martin will turn into a top-flight prospect by the time he is ready to enroll in college, but it can't hurt FAU to make a positive early impression with a player that could be a blue-chip recruit.

This will almost certainly be off-putting to a segment of the college football population but Lane Kiffin famously does not care how things are perceived. Let the debate rage as to whether this is the "right" thing to do.
