According to FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman, a major development has occurred with regards to LSU interim coach Ed Orgeron. Previously it had been thought that Orgeron would have to beat Alabama this weekend in order to keep the job, but now it doesn't look that way, as Feldman is reporting that Orgeron doesn't have to win out to become the permanent head coach.

Word is, Orgeron has really impressed LSU's power brokers with how he has managed the program on a day-to-day basis both externally but more importantly internally through a turbulent situation.
LSU's schedule after the Alabama game doesn't get much easier, as they still have Arkansas, Florida, and Texas A&M left on their schedule. However, if 3-1 is "likely" to lock the job up, then there is a chance that even 2-2 on this stretch could guarantee the job for Orgeron, especially if one of those two wins happens to be Alabama.
