Power 5 team suffers third decommit in two days and panic ensues

Is there a mass exodus happening at Michigan?

Things aren't going well for Michigan on the recruiting trail this week.

First, the Wolverines lost an important commitment from 2017 standout Aubrey Solomon and, shortly thereafter, Michigan saw four-star 2018 prospect Leonard Taylor pull back on his pledge to attend school in Ann Arbor. Now, Jim Harbaugh and company will be looking to do a bit of damage control, as 2018 commit Jalil Irvin will also reopen his collegiate options.

To be fair, Irvin is the least touted of the three prospects to decommit from Michigan in the past two days, but every defection hurts. The four-star offensive lineman from Stone Mountain, Ga. does rank as a top-300 prospect in 247Sports' composite rankings, but Irvin is seen as a three-star according to some services.

The fact remains, though, that Michigan's reserves are drying up for future recruiting classes and, in the case of Solomon, the Wolverines could be impacted for the very near future. Harbaugh and his staff are well-known for their ability to close on potential targets, leaving Michigan Men everywhere with a reason to be confident, but some level of panic has to be mounting with the fan base as something of a mass exodus takes place.

Stay tuned as more unfolds from Ann Arbor.
