Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines fell short of their ultimate goals in 2016. The team performed quite well throughout the campaign, compiling a 10-2 record and a top-five profile. However, the Wolverines succumbed to both Iowa and Ohio State (under controversial circumstances) on the road in excruciating fashion and that will undoubtedly stick in the craw of Michigan fans, regardless of the result of a bowl match-up against Florida State.

With all of that said, Michigan should still be relatively pleased with the performance of their players and Tony Tuioti is in the middle of that. The former quality control coach of the Cleveland Browns joined the staff for the 2016 season as the "director of player personnel", but earlier this week, word broke (h/t Detroit News) that Harbaugh will be forced to look for a replacement. Tuioti will join the Fresno State staff as the team's defensive line coach.
In the grand scheme of things, this appears to be a minor loss for Michigan. Still, the recruiting powerhouse that is being built in Ann Arbor under Harbaugh is very real, and having a player personnel department is part of that. This story won't make national news, but fans of the Wolverines will certainly have a close eye on the next person hired in the role.
