When a high school prospect is committed to a particular college football program, that normally means that said prospect isn't "available" when it comes to the full-fledged pursuit of other schools. While that (obviously) isn't always adhered to, the situation with 2018 defensive end Micah Parsons is quite interesting.

Parsons, who is a top-five recruit nationally when it comes to the 2018 class, is committed to play for James Franklin and the Penn State Nittany Lions at the next level. However, he took to Twitter on Saturday evening and released a "top six" list.
Until a prospect signs a letter of intent, nothing in the recruiting world is concrete but this is taking things to a new level. Parsons names Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State and USC as five additional programs that he is considering alongside Penn State and does it in interesting fashion given the video format.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pound defensive end happens to be the top player from the state of Pennsylvania, making his commitment to Penn State that much more important for Franklin and his staff. With that said, this type of list release has to worry the Nittany Lions at least to some extent, and it will be interesting to see how the recruitment goes from here. Micah Parsons has been committed to Penn State for nearly a calendar year, but there could be a few twists and turns before his recruiting saga ends.
