Nation's top defensive end rethinks commitment, could flip to huge rival

He had been committed since February of 2016.

Micah Parsons is the top defensive end in the country and had been committed to Penn State since February of last year. However, it looks like the 6'3", 235-pound DE might have committed too soon and has now backed off that commitment:

Parsons said that the Nittany Lions are still at the top of his list though, according to Rivals' Adam Friedman. In that interview, Parsons described how he saw the rest of the recruiting process playing out.

"I felt like my visit to Penn State this weekend went amazing," Parsons said. "Everything was good for me but at the end of the day it came down to family. I talked to coach Franklin in person there and over the phone (Sunday) and thought this would be the best decision for right now. They're still my top school right now but I fell like I need to focus on other things right now."

247Sports' crystal ball currently has Parsons split between Penn State and Ohio State in his decision and he took a visit to Columbus for their spring game. 247Sports has Parsons ranked as the No. 3 overall recruit in the class of 2018 and top defensive end as well as top recruit in Pennsylvania.
