While some people would prefer Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly to be the one getting the axe, that is not the case for today. Special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Scott Booker has been relieved of his duties as of Monday night.

Notre Dame was one of eight FBS teams to allow two kick returns for scores in 2016 and one of six teams to allow two punt returns for touchdowns, including the game-losing blocked punt at N.C. State. That seems like a pretty good reason to fire the special teams coordinator if you ask me.
Booker becomes the third Fighting Irish assistant to leave the program as defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder was dismissed in September and Mike Sanford is reportedly taking the Western Kentucky head coaching job.
