But the Broncos, according to Benjamin Allbright of 104.7 FM in Denver, had the first opportunity to offer Osweiler a contract. He noted via CBS Houston that the Broncos "came with an offer they thought was fair," but "you know how the Broncos like to low ball people a bit, Brock just wasn't having it."
According to Allbright, the Broncos were willing to award Osweiler an $18.5 million contract annually and at least $35 million guaranteed, but the quarterback stopped taking phone calls from the team.
Now he leaves what was a solid situation in Denver for a potentially great situation with wideouts DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller, along with running back Lamar Miller in Houston.
Denver, on the other hand, is left dealing with quarterback Mark Sanchez and rookie Paxton Lynch.
After Osweiler was relegated back to the bench last season in favor of a banged up Peyton Manning, one more false step by general manager John Elway was all the quarterback needed to bounce.
