USA Today report: Houston has decided on their next head coach

Oh really?

According to USA Today's Dan Wolken, Houston had decided that Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin will be the next head football coach for the Cougars.

Wolken notes that a meeting with the school's president is pending, and that the hire has not been officially announced yet. However, after that report, conflicting reports emerged from Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle and from Bruce Feldman of FOX Sports.

ESPN's Brett McMurphy also noted that Houston decision-makers weren't expected to meet until Thursday night.

Feldman does note that Houston is still hoping to hire a "big-name" candidate, and Kiffin would certainly fit that bill. However, it looks like Wolken and USA Today are the only ones reporting that a move has actually been made at this point in time.

This story will be updated as we learn more about Houston's head coaching situation.
