Original story below.
A lot is going on at Texas.
On Sunday night, 247Sports reported that Texas defensive coordinator Vance Bedford had been demoted from play-calling duties. Strong will reportedly take over defensive play-calling, and Sports Illustrated is now reporting that Strong's job could be in serious jeopardy at the end of the year.

This appears to be in contradiction to a previous report that was going to give the Texas defensive staff until the end of the season as a way to give Strong another chance in the 2017 season. These reports are along the same lines as that one, but it looks like Texas has accelerated their plan.

This is Strong's third season at Texas, and he hasn't quite had the success that most Texas fans are used to. After going 23-3 in his final two seasons as head coach at Louisville, Strong is just 13-16 through two-plus seasons with Texas.
The interesting part is that Texas had similar problems last year with their offense. After a coordinator change over the offseason and the addition of quarterback Shane Buechele, the Longhorn offense looks great.
Maybe the same philosophy could work on defense, but as Yahoo's Pat Forde notes, eventually you run out of guys to take the fall for you.
Last year Charlie Strong demoted OC Shawn Watson. Now it's DC Vance Bedford. Noted in last week's Dash: eventually you run out of fall guys.
