Washington's coach has a clear message for fans calling out Alabama

Washington Huskies fans might be happy about facing Bama in the Playoff, but head coach Chris Petersen seems intimidated

It's hard to imagine anyone wanting to face Alabama, given how much of a juggernaut they've been this season.

But that's exactly what Washington Huskies fans have been lobbying for over the past month, holding up signs during games that read: "We want Alabama."

Those fans will get their wish come the Peach Bowl Dec. 31 when the top-ranked Tide face 4th-ranked Washington in a College Football Playoff semifinal.

And Huskies head coach Chris Petersen isn't nearly as enthusiastic about the prospect.

"Sometimes you've gotta be careful what you wish for," Petersen said Sunday on ESPN's College Football Playoff Selection Show. "I didn't hold that sign up."

The idea of facing a Bama team that's outscored opponents by a ridiculous 527-153 on its way to an unblemished 13-0 record, seems to have Petersen, whose Washington team went 12-1 and won the PAC-12 Championship over Colorado Saturday, a little spooked.

"It's a special team, special program," he added. "It'll be a tremendous challenge. It'll be the biggest challenge, certainly, we've ever faced as football coaches and players."
