According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE has pulled Jerry "The King" Lawler from all regular programming, which had included the weekly Monday Night RAW and SmackDown Live pre-shows. Lawler is still under contract with WWE, but will only be used going forward on "special occasions".
Amy Dumas, better known as former WWE Women's Champion Lita, was also pulled from the same duties.
Lawler was pulled as a SmackDown Live announcer earlier this year after WWE's self-initiated brand split. Lawler's age was likely a factor in the changes, as WWE has instituted younger talents — including former wrestlers Corey Graves and David Otunga — at the announce table.
Lawler has been working with WWE regularly since 1992. Despite suffering an on-air heart attack in 2012, Lawler still wresltes on occasion despite being 67 years old.
