Camila Giorgi retired from playing professional tennis and that alone led to speculation enough. But now, things may be coming into focus, and it could involve tax evasion, as relayed by the New York Post.

"Giorgi, who confirmed her mysterious retirement Sunday on her Instagram page, is believed to have fled her native Italy for the United States and is wanted by Italian law enforcement for gaps in her tax returns, according to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport," the Post wrote.
"Members of Giorgi's family are also being investigated, according to the report, and she traveled to the United States with her father Sergio, mother Claudio and brothers Leandro and Amadeus."
In short ... oh boy. This doesn't sound good.
Giori is just 32 years old and has gained notoriety for more than her tennis skills (and current accusations). She is also viewed as someone who can spend her time as a model and probably make good money at it.
As for her game, she is known for her aggressive style and is considered one of the hardest hitters of the ball on tour. So her retirement did indeed stun the tennis community.
"Please trust this Instagram for truthful information," Giorgi posted on her Instagram story. "To my lovely fans, I am happy to formally announce retirement from my tennis career. I am so grateful for your wonderful love and support for so many years.
"I cherish all the beautiful memories. There have been many inaccurate rumors about my future plans, so I look forward to providing more information about exciting opportunities ahead. It is a joy to share my life with you, and let's continue this journey together. With much love, Camila."
In other words, no reason was provided — opening the door to hints of the aforementioned allegations.
