Holger Rune is having a rough summer on and off the court., After all, the 22-year-old Danish tennis star was reportedly turned down by Russia's Veronika Kudermetova, who shared the exchange on a recent episode of Elena Vesnina's podcast.

"Rune recently texted me," Kudermetova, 28, said, as relayed by the UK's Express, via the New York Post. "I told him, 'Boy, I'm probably too old for you. If you looked at my Instagram, you'd see I have a husband.' He replied, 'Oh, sorry.' Since then, he doesn't even say hello to me anymore."
Kudermetova has been married to her coach, Sergey Demekhine, since 2017. The 41-year-old Demekhine, a former pro from Russia, regularly appears on her social media feed and joined her last month at the Champions' Dinner following Wimbledon.
That's where Kudermetova and Belgian partner Elise Mertens captured the women's doubles crown with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Jelena Ostapenko and Hsieh Su-wei. It marked the first Grand Slam doubles title of Kudermetova's career.
"When I finish the match, I mean, was so emotional. I even start to cry a little bit, but then I saw Elise. She cry, so OK, I have to hold my emotion!" Kudermetova said afterward.
Rune, meanwhile, was bounced in the first round at Wimbledon after a five-set loss to Chile's Nicolás Jarry. Now both players are at the National Bank Open, and the off-court headlines followed them to Canada.
"I don't know if you've heard about this tea, this is totally not tennis related," a commentator said during Kudermetova's match on Thursday, "but there was news that Holger Rune apparently texted Kudermetova, and she said she was too old for him and married."
Kudermetova and Mertens will face Russia's Alexandra Panova and China's Guo Hanyu in the women's doubles Round of 16 on Friday in Montreal. Rune plays Australia's Alexei Popyrin in singles Saturday in Toronto.
So far, the serves are landing better than the DMs.
