Fans Rip Dwyane Wade Statue 'Atrocity'

The moment of truth came on Sunday evening outside of the Kaseya Center. The ceremony was a star-studded event that saw the likes of Udonis Haslem, Pat Riley, Bam Adebayo, A'ja Wilson and Wade's wife Gabrielle Union-Wade among those in attendance.

Fans online were quick to comment on Wade's statue, most saying that it looked nothing like the Heat legend.

One user on X, formerly known as Twitter said, "Man who the hell is this??? The Miami Heat did Dwyane Wade filthy with this statue lmao."

"This must be Dwyane Wade from Earth-29 because this is NOT the Dwyane Wade from my timeline," joked another user.

"I instantly went to the zombie in I am Legend. That thing is an atrocity and the disrespect to a legend to sign off on that," another fan said on X.

" I don't know who that is. But, I know it is not Dwayne Wade," another fan added.

The NBA Hall of Famer even got in on the fun himself during his speech at the event, saying "I can't believe it," before asking "who is that guy?"

It will be interesting to see if any alterations are made to the design of the statue following the backlash

Heat Legend Celebrates Ahead of Ceremony

The three-time champ enjoyed a weekend full of commemoration leading up to Sunday's ceremony. The City of Miami immortalized the 3x NBA Champ early on Friday after renaming a portion of Northeast 7th street near Kaseya Center as Dwyane Wade Boulevard.

Later in the day, he  held a James Bond-themed party, appropriately entitled 'Statues are Forever,' at Queen Miami Beach to celebrate his achievement with friends.
