The Jets sit at 1-1 on the season heading into their matchup with the Patriots. But one has to wonder how much different things would be if they had their star pass-rusher Haason Redick.
If you are tardy to the party, the Jets pulled off the blockbuster trade to poach Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles this past offseason. And they did so knowing that the star lineman was disgruntled as he and the Eagles' could not agree on the terms of a new deal.
Haason Reddick Sends Cryptic Message Amid Holdout
Reddick and the Jets have also been unable to agree on a new deal. And as a result, he has held out of all team activities to this point of the season.
Despite Reddick being a no-show, head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas have shown optimism that he will suit up for the franchise this season.
The anticipation for a potential Reddick return was reignited after he sent out a cryptic tweet.
"God will always make a way," Reddick Tweeted on September 19.
Jets Urged to Change Course on Draft Plans
The season is still very young, but it is never too early to start looking at the Jets' options for the 2025 NFL Draft. Nobody knows what the future holds for Aaron Rodgers after the 40-year-old his ACL in the first game of last season. Because of that many assumed that the Jets would look to draft a quarterback in April.
However, one analyst thinks New York should go a different route. Kyle Crabbs of the 33rd Down believes that general manager Joe Douglas and Company should look to draft a safety. And Georgia's Malachi Starks could be the perfect fit.
"When you look at the New York defensive depth chart, you see talent up and down the roster except for the safety position. While the Jets may like Tony Adams, Chuck Clark, and Ashtyn Davis, the opportunity to add a star like Starks is just too good to pass up," said Crabbs.
"Starks prowling the secondary between DJ Reed and Sauce Gardner is a horrifying proposition for opposing offenses, which is why it's the perfect pick for New York."
