Despite LSU's overtures for Jimbo Fisher, reports note that it was the FSU coach, not the Tigers who nixed a potential jump to the SEC.
Here's more, per ESPN:
"LSU has zeroed in on Houston's Tom Herman as its next head coach and could have a deal in place as early as Saturday, sources told ESPN.com's Chris Low on Thursday night. Florida State's Jimbo Fisher was also near the top of LSU's wish list, but LSU's search moved to Herman over the last few days. He told some close to him that he thinks he could have some of his most talented teams at FSU over the next two years."
The latest report comes days after it was noted that Fisher had been extended a "substantial offer" from LSU. CBS Sports noted a deal could be in place as of Saturday, but did not specify if that deal would be for Herman, Fisher or another coaching candidate.
"I decline comment on that and any other report that's out there," Alleva told The Advocate on Thursday night.
