Caitlin Clark Closing In On WNBA Suspension With Three Techs

Things have gone pretty well for Caitlin Clark as an individual during her first month as a WNBA player. But not so well for her team, the Indiana Fever, who took her with the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft.

Clark has already received three technicals in her first nine games, coming dangerously close to a suspension from the league. That could perhaps be the result of her being a target of opposing (and highly jealous) players, as well as her own frustration from her own squad's struggles.

As relayed by Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post: "WNBA rules stipulate that players get suspended for a game when they receive their seventh technical foul of the season, and an additional game for every other technical after that."

So, yes, Clark is lurking close to that. There are still plenty of games to go and she's already nearing the halfway mark of her allotted T's before suspension.

"This means that Clark can receive no more than three technical fouls in the remaining 31 games of the regular season to stay under this threshold," Glasspiegel wrote. "While Clark has started to find her shooting stroke, the frustrations have mounted as the Fever have started the season 1-8 and opposing defenses seem to be actively seeking her out with physical play."

Again, all of that can lead to things boiling over a bit for a player who is bringing some much-needed notoriety to the WNBA.

"I feel like I'm getting hammered, I don't know," Clark told reporters after being asked about her and Seattle Storm guard  Victoria ViviansVivians jawing at each other.
