Caitlin Clark might be the most recognizable name in women's basketball, but one Jeopardy! contestant learned the hard way that not every star wears an Indiana Fever jersey.

During Wednesday's episode of the long-running quiz show, law student Rahul Kak found himself in an awkward spotlight. The category was "Sporty Stuff," and for $800, the clue showed a photo of former UConn standout Paige Bueckers alongside the text: "This UConn star had an intense spring in 2025, playing on her first national championship team and being picked first in the WNBA Draft."

Kak buzzed in confidently and responded, "Who is Caitlin Clark?" The answer was not only incorrect but also widely off the mark, as Clark played her college career at Iowa and was selected first overall in the 2024 draft, not 2025. None of the other contestants offered a guess, leaving the board in stunned silence.

In fairness to Kak, Clark has dominated headlines in recent months and is arguably the face of the WNBA at the moment. Still, mistaking her for Bueckers — who plays for the Dallas Wings and looks nothing like Clark — left fans and viewers cringing at home.

Bueckers, long viewed as one of the most dynamic college players of her generation, capped her UConn career with a national title this past spring before making the leap to the WNBA. She was the top pick in the 2025 draft and has made a quick impact with Dallas.

As for Clark and Bueckers, they have yet to square off professionally, but fans may not have to wait much longer. An upcoming Wings-Fever game is on the horizon and has already generated buzz after being moved to a larger venue due to demand.

As an aside, Clark recently made some news of her own by repeatedly passing on rival Angel Reese when Clark selected her squad for the WNBA All-Star game.
