Tom Brady's recent run-ins with Logan Paul suddenly make a whole lot more sense.

According to TMZ Sports, the seven-time Super Bowl champion is in talks with WWE, fueling speculation that Brady could eventually make an appearance inside a WWE ring.
No deal has been announced, and it's unclear what role Brady might have if the talks lead anywhere. But the report comes after months of what now appears to be a carefully orchestrated rivalry with Paul.
The two first traded playful jabs during Brady's appearance on Paul's Impaulsive podcast earlier this year. Things escalated over the weekend.
At Fanatics Fest in New York City, Brady appeared to slap Paul during a staged confrontation before later flipping him off while attending the World Cup final. Brady also recently shared the stage with WWE superstar Cody Rhodes, one of Paul's biggest rivals.
Viewed separately, the incidents looked like celebrity drama.

Taken together with TMZ's report, however, they appear to have been laying the groundwork for something much bigger.
The idea isn't as far-fetched as it might seem, either.
Brady is a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, while fellow Raiders minority owner Ari Emanuel serves as CEO of TKO Group Holdings, the company that owns WWE. That existing business relationship could help explain why discussions have taken place.
Whether Brady eventually steps into the ring remains to be seen, but if he does, don't be surprised if Logan Paul is waiting on the other side.
