Jason Garrett: Dallas Cowboys will define team's own expectations

Dallas Cowboys' Jason Garrett is trying to temper expectations heading into 2015-16.

After Dez Bryant inked an extension with the Dallas Cowboys during the offseason, the wide receiver proclaimed his team is "Super-Bowl ready."

After a surprising 12-4 season, a division crown and a playoff victory, expectations are higher heading into the 2015-16 season. And while head coach Jason Garrett admits the Super Bowl is every team's ultimate goal, he doesn't want a change in mindset from his team heading into the season, per ESPN:

"A year ago we were probably regarded as a bottom-five, bottom-10 team in the league," Garrett said. "One of the best things our team did last year is we defined ourselves by what we did. We didn't listen to any outside forces that were saying we were this or we were that. We just went to work every day ...

"We have to do that again. People might think differently of us this year. It really doesn't matter. We define us by what we do."

Despite losing DeMarco Murray in free agency, only replacing the running back with Darren McFadden and kicking the tires on Chris Johnson, the Dallas offense should still be a high-powered unit behind Tony Romo's arm and Bryant's pass-catching ability, while the defense looks to stay on par from a strong year last season.

The Cowboys report to training camp Tuesday.
