In unprecedented move, Steve Spurrier actually thinks an FSU coach is right about something

Is this real life?

Jimbo Fisher vehemently went after the ACC officials on Saturday after the Seminoles' game against Clemson ended in a 37-34 loss. He felt the refs screwed his team because of a bad chop block that negated a great Dalvin Cook run. However, what really ground his gears was his quarterback Deondre Francois taking some big and late hits.

Some of that is the offensive line's fault as they have a staggering 27 sacks on the year, which is the 8th most in the country. However, that hasn't stopped Fisher from raving and ranting about protecting quarterbacks like the NFL does for its superstars. And there's at least one guy who agrees with him and it's the last guy who would ever think of.

Former Florida coach and legend Steve Spurrier, of all people, is in total accord with Fisher.

"Jimbo's right," Spurrier told Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel. "He's got a good point. On one play against Clemson, his quarterback got rid of the ball and yet the officials still allowed the Clemson defender to bury him in the ground."

And Francois has taken hits like that all season so it might be interesting to see what happens if Francois ever gets seriously injured from one of these hits. Will Spurrier come to Fisher's defense if he goes off on the refs again? We'll have to wait for the next Seminoles game it seems.
