Top-rated recruits have left their high school after raising serious concerns

This is certainly something.

There's been quite a bit of drama bubbling up to the surface at Franklin High School in Franklin, Tennessee, and though the players have stayed out of it, Ohio State commitment Max Wray and his brother, Jake Wray, have been dragged into the spotlight.

Joe Williams of the Williamson Herald is reporting that Max and Jake were suspended from the school's football team and actually ended up leaving the program when their parents addressed a culture of "perverse incentive to hide potential injuries, including concussions."

Williams passes on a statement from the Wray family, which straight up calls out the football program. This, despite the family saying that they originally tried to deal with this in private.

"Max and Jake did not quit the Franklin High Football team. This situation arose because we, as a family, became increasingly concerned that the coaching staff has created an environment in which players' health and safety is not the first priority.

We expressed to the school administration our concern that the culture was creating a perverse incentive for players to conceal injuries, including in particular concussions."

The family asked that the football staff would acknowledge their concerns and address them, and they also asked for the players and brothers to be "exonerated from any wrongdoing and restored to good standing with the team."

Per the Wray's, the staff and high school administration denied any wrongdoing and at this point, it seems like the star recruits and the football team are choosing to part ways.

Williams of the Williamson Herald goes on to report that Jake, a sophomore, was reportedly diagnosed with a concussion in late September, returning to action a few weeks later. How that diagnosis plays into this situation is unknown, but it's a safe bet to assume that they are connected.

Max Wray is a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports, ranked as the No. 7 player at his position. Jake Wray is a 2020 recruit who's currently unranked but already has multiple offers, including Ohio State, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami and many others.
