Jon Gruden is one of the hottest names on the coaching carousel right now and he has been linked to the open Tennessee job. He's even been sighted in Knoxville this year —- admittedly, one of his sons attends the university —- but if you're to believe something that came right from the horse's mouth, getting him on campus may not be a great idea.

Jon Gruden in August: “If I became a college coach I would probably have you on probation w/in 4 or 5 weeks. Too many rules, man. I mean I like to work. The recruiting … all that stuff. Yeah, I’d probably have you in real deep, deep trouble if I was your college coach”

Yikes. It sounds like Gruden would have you in trouble before the season even started and nobody wants to self-report all of those violations, no matter how small they are. Maybe Gruden is more likely to head back to the NFL, but that remains to be seen. His stance could have very well changed since that quote and he was exaggerating a bit in all likelihood when he said that.
