During the Pittsburgh Pirates' 9-5 victory over the Cincinnati Reds, there was an accident that took place on the mound in the top of the first inning. Reds pitcher Hunter Greene appeared to be struggling early in the game, and after throwing his first pitch to the second batter in the Pirates lineup, Bryan Reynolds, the starter immediately also threw up his dinner.

Greene was examined by a physical trainer after the incident, before being allowed to resume pitching.
During the seventh pitch of the at-bat, with the count 3-2, Reynolds hit a 426-foot home run, which made the score 2-0. Greene would go on to throw 32 pitches, and ended up giving up three runs in the first inning.
In four innings pitched Greene gave up six earned runs, off of seven hits allowed and two walks.
The Pirates broadcast crew couldn't help themselves when introducing the new replacement pitcher in the fifth inning.
"Replacing Hunter Greene, who coughed up 6 runs, 7 hits... It's an issue when your starter doesn't give you any length. It can be tough to stomach."
When asked what caused him to throw up all over the mound, the pitcher said he thinks he drank too much water.
"Nobody really knows, but it is a lot of liquid built up in my system," Greene said. "The only way it seems to come out is by vomiting. It just sits on my chest. No one wants to go out and get sick. After that I did a good job of getting ahead of hitters but didn't do a good job of putting them away."
To point out, Greene also vomited in his last start, which just so happened to be against the Pirates as well (6.1 innings, 2 hits allowed, 0 ER, 9 K's).
"I definitely hydrated too much," Greene said after his last start (6/19), which took place on a very hot day (85 degrees Fahrenheit), according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
In his third season in the MLB, the 24-year-old has a 5-3 record, with 3.79 ERA and 1.17 WHIP.
