From the early 2000's-2010's no two players were compared more than Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. And now there is yet another record that has been broken between them, as LeBron in his first game of his 22nd year in the NBA has passed Kobe for most career missed field goals.

In view of the side by side comparison between them, Kobe has taken 26,200 shots and missed 14,481 (44.7% career made FG percentage). On the other hand, LeBron now has the most misses with 14,485 on 29,329 shot attempts (50.6% FG), via basketball reference.
That is to say, some fans have noted that although LeBron has more misses, he is the only NBA player to reach the 40k point milestone, and has 7,000 more points than Kobe (33,643) as well as 147 more games played.
However, when looking at the shooting percentages, it is also important to consider the difficulty of attempts, as Kobe was known for his shot creation and fadeaway contested jumpers, considering he is one of the best 1-on-1 players to play the game of basketball.
In view of LeBron's career, he has more of his points in the paint and is the most complete 5-on-5 player the game has seen, as many view him as a "pass-first" scorer.
Nevertheless, even considering Kobe's ability to score on anyone, anywhere, and anytime on the court, LeBron has more three-point made field goals.
When comparing their long-range shooting, LeBron is 8th all-time on the three-point made field goals list, with 2,411 makes on 6,930 attempts (34.8% 3PT). While Kobe has 1,827 makes (25th all-time) on 5,546 attempts (32.9% 3PT).
For those doing the math, LeBron has 4,519 misses from beyond the arc, while Kobe has 3,719 3PT misses.
Ultimately, LeBron, who accomplished the title of NBA's all-time leading scorer in the 2022-23 season and currently has 40,490 points, has the most field goal attempts, so it only makes sense the more shots one takes, the more misses.
And as long as LeBron continues to defy "Father Time," both his points and missed shots records will continue to grow, before both may be unbreakable one day.
With LeBron’s 6 missed shots tonight, he has now passed Kobe Bryant for the most missed shots in NBA history.
He also has:
• the MOST PTS ever
• the MOST FGA ever
• the 2nd MOST FGM ever
• the 2nd MOST MP ever
• the 6th MOST GP everIt took LeBron…
• 147 more games

To note, LeBron has 3,014 missed free throws on 11,405 attempts (73.6% FT), while Kobe has 1,633 career missed free throws on 10,011 attempts (83.7% FT).
Notably, LeBron also holds the record for most turnovers (5,213) in NBA history, while Kobe is 5th all-time (4010).
