In what was a scare for everyone who saw the little boy fall headfirst towards the field, Wharton was at the right place at the right time.
That is to say, the fifth-year player had two tackles during the game, but he will certainly be more remembered for heroically grabbing the kid out of mid-air.
Lots of fans reacted to this by saying the defensive lineman maybe had the catch of the year.
Another user on X wrote, "Not all Heroes wear capes! Some wear Chiefs gear! Thank you for protecting that kid from a bad fall Tershawn!"
With all the praise coming his way, Wharton appeared on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday.
"Honestly it was natural reaction, I kind of grabbed him right by the back of his back and kind of pushed him into the stands a little bit more," Wharton said.
The 26-year-old NFL star also went on to say that he's going to try and invite the boy out to a game, as if saving the kid's life wasn't enough.

.@Chiefs IDL Tershawn Wharton chasing Bryce Young all over the place on third-and-7 with 4:46 left in the game, forcing an incompletion. The @Panthers punted on the next play. Wharton might have saved Kansas City from its second loss of the season in a very tight game. pic.twitter.com/bNUMnk9vDy
