Reportedly, the 20-year-old was not competing but was in attendance as a coach.

During the event she fell ill and was taken to the hospital, where she tragically was pronounced dead after multiple attempts to save her were unsuccessful.

Her family published a statement on social media giving the details of what transpired.

"Her heart stopped due to complications of severe dehydration. Despite all efforts by the hospital, they were unable to revive her," the Vance family wrote.

"She was a beautiful person inside and out and she will be missed every single day. This was sudden and unexpected. Please give her family time to process this loss in peace. If anyone takes anything from this, please put your health first."

As for the cause of death, Vance's coach, Justin Mihaly, suspects she was taking potentially dangerous substances.

"Jodi used two extremely hazardous substances to improve her physique... I assume just for the Arnold Expo, without my knowledge, my approval, without family's knowledge, their approval," Mihaly said on Instagram.

In what is yet another tragic loss to the bodybuilding community, the up-and-coming star certainly had a bright future ahead.

Notably, during the 2024 NPC Battle of Texas, Vance placed third in the Women's Physique division.
