After Miami's 28-6 loss to Baltimore last Thursday, there was immediate speculation that the Dolphins might move on from head coach Mike McDaniel.

Instead, ownership made a different move. They fired general manager Chris Grier after more than 20 years in the building.
McDaniel told reporters Monday that Stephen Ross informed him directly of the decision the day after the loss. McDaniel said it affected him personally, but it will not affect how he does his job.
"I prioritize the idea of not spending any time thinking of things that could happen from that standpoint," McDaniel said. "I took the information as he delivered it. For me personally, Chris is a guy I have worked with every day since I have been here. I am a human being.
"Whether it is football or life things, that is an emotional toll when you realize that things are going to be different. Having said that, none of my job and what people depend on me for has anything to do with any of my feelings. It is irrelevant."
Miami also agreed Monday to trade edge rusher Jaelan Phillips to the Eagles. That move and anything else that happens before Tuesday's deadline will impact how McDaniel coaches the rest of this season.
How he handles it could determine whether he returns in 2026.
