The former Super Bowl champion dropped the news during a postseason meeting with beat reporters. He confirmed that he wants to keep playing despite being benched early in the season, and he pointed to an overtime loss to the Cowboys as evidence of what he could still do. He then revealed that he played in this game with a torn hamstring.

"I played that game, you know, I tore my hamstring on Friday in practice," Wilson said. "The last play of practice. And I had a Grade 2 (tear). I couldn't tell anybody. I had to go and play on it just because I knew the circumstance, I had to play on it, no matter what.

"I actually ended up going to the Dallas Mavericks' facility, training, and just kept it quiet, just trying to get treatment on it and just knowing that I probably couldn't run from the goal line to the 10-yard line if I wanted to. But I feel like I got to play this game."

The NFC East rivalry game featured Wilson completing more than 73% of his throws for a season-high 450 yards and three touchdowns. The Giants ultimately lost to the Cowboys by three points in overtime.

One week later, Wilson struggled against the Chiefs. He threw two interceptions while completing only 56.3% of his attempted passes. The Giants lost 22-9 and then the team benched Wilson in favor of rookie Jaxson Dart.

The season may be over, but the questions about the hamstring tear are not. The NFL will likely aim to discover whether the team had knowledge of this tear and whether it hid it from the Cowboys or the league itself. If this is the case, the team could face consequences.

However, Wilson took to X on Monday afternoon to defend the team. He said that this is not the Giants' fault and that he did not tell the team.

"They didn't know bc I didn't want to tell anyone bc of the circumstances," Wilson wrote. "I just had to play through it to try and go ball that day! Thought we were going to Win that wild crazy game!"
