Carius Curne, who transferred from LSU to Ole Miss over the offseason, was arrested by Arkansas State Police on April 25. The 6-foot-5, 330-pound tackle was arrested at approximately 5:11 p.m. He was released at 6:50 p.m.
According to The Clarion Ledger, Curne faces charges of fleeing, reckless driving, speeding, improper lane change, and possession of a schedule six substance of less than four ounces. He also faces a misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Clarion Ledger did not have details about the incident that led to these charges.
An Arkansas native, Curne spent the 2025 season playing for the LSU Tigers. He donned No. 57 and suited up for eight games. He made his debut against Louisiana Tech, which LSU won 23-7.
Curne also suited up for a 56-10 win over Southeastern La., a 19-24 loss to Ole Miss, a 25-49 loss to Texas A&M, a 9-20 loss to Alabama, a 23-22 win over Arkansas, a 13-10 win over Western Kentucky, and a 35-38 Texas Bowl loss to Houston.
Curne spent his high school years playing for Marion in Arkansas. 247Sports had him ranked as the No. 1 recruit in the state coming out of high school in 2024. The outlet ranked him as a four-star with an overall rating of 96.
The big offensive tackle had 16 schools interested in him as he finished his high school career. This list included LSU, Florida, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisville, Mississippi State, Missouri, Purdue, SMU, Memphis, UTSA, Liberty, Texas State, and Central Arkansas.
Depending on the outcome of this case, Curne will likely spend the 2026-27 season competing at Ole Miss. He will set out to protect quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who won his legal battle and secured another season of eligibility through an injunction.
