"Just received great news from my oncologist Dr Richard Brown as he said the PET SCAN showed significant improvement in my Melanoma - very pleased that the Immunotherapy treatments have been successful. Time for some Rigatoni Marinara," Vitale posted on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, on July 7.

That is not the only update that the Hall of Famer provided. He also announced that he had received his doctor's approval to attend an MLB game. He said he would attend a game between his beloved Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees.

This update follows a serious announcement in mid-April. Vitale revealed that he had been diagnosed with melanoma in his lung and liver cavity after a biopsy. He announced that he would begin immunotherapy while striving to beat cancer yet again.

"I've beaten melanoma. I've beaten lymphoma. I've beaten vocal cord cancer," Vitale said in an April statement. "I've beaten lymph node cancer. I'm four-for-four and I'm fully confident I'm going to make it five-for-five.

"I am truly overwhelmed by the love, support, prayers and messages I've received from so many people. I'm incredibly blessed to have my family beside me, and my ESPN family — led by Chairman Jimmy Pitaro — has been absolutely terrific.

"Their support has inspired me to keep fighting and I will do everything in my power to win another battle. The best news I can share today is this: I feel fantastic."

Vitale has continued to provide updates throughout the treatment process. He shared that he had not experienced any major side effects from the immunotherapy. He also shared that he had been able to go to dinner with friends during the summer months.

Of course, the avid sports fan also shared his thoughts about the biggest topics. He celebrated World Cup wins by the United States. He also said that Jalen Brunson has become to the Knicks what Derek Jeter became to the Yankees — a respected champion.
