Jim Ross, an icon of professional wrestling, has revealed that he has an important procedure ahead of him. He will undergo brain surgery.

Ross provided the update during the Aug. 6 episode of his podcast, Grilling JR with Jim Ross. He explained that the brain surgery will remove excess fluid from his brain. He will have a shunt installed, which will help relieve pressure on his brain.
The surgery takes place on Wednesday in Norman. After that, Ross will be able to leave the hospital after approximately one day.
"I don't want to say 'I'm looking forward to it,' but I guess I am to get to that point and get it over with," Ross explained. "I've never had brain surgery before, so they're going to put a shunt in my brain."
The voice of professional wrestling had previously provided details in other episodes about his health challenges. He noted that he would start the day well before become very tired in the early afternoon.
Ross also explained that he had passed out at his home and had spent 40 days in the hospital. He also struggled with memory.
"It's just an illness, and I got to get it addressed," Ross said in a July episode. "I couldn't live my life the way it was, you know?"
Once the wrestling fans heard of the brain surgery, they immediately responded with positive comments. They reached out to Ross and showed their support for him as he prepared for this major procedure.
Ross saw all of the comments from the wrestling fans, and he made it clear that he appreciated them all.
"Thanks for the outpouring of support regarding my upcoming brain surgery," Ross posted on X on Tuesday. "A hole will be drilled in my skull and a small tube will be inserted (into) my stomach to better manage/drain excess brain fluid.
"I'm optimistic. Thanks to all," the Hall of Famer added.
