Major League Baseball is going back to Iowa in 2027. And this time, the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Royals are getting their turn.

MLB and Universal Pictures announced Friday that the two teams will meet in the next Field of Dreams Game on Aug. 12, 2027, in Dyersville, Iowa.
Kansas City will serve as the home team, with NBC Sports providing exclusive national coverage.
The game will once again be played at the site made famous by the 1989 movie "Field of Dreams," starring Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones and Ray Liotta.
If you build it, apparently MLB will keep coming. The event debuted in spectacular fashion in 2021, when the Chicago White Sox beat the New York Yankees on Tim Anderson's walk-off home run. The Cubs defeated the Reds there in 2022 before the event went on a four-year hiatus while a new stadium was constructed at the movie site.
It returned in 2026, with the Philadelphia Phillies beating the Minnesota Twins 7-1. Now Boston and Kansas City are on deck.
"To have the Red Sox take the field in Iowa, in a place that reminds us why people fall in love with baseball, will be incredibly special," Red Sox president and CEO Sam Kennedy said.
The game will count as a Royals home date. After an off day on Aug. 13, Boston and Kansas City will resume their series at Kauffman Stadium on Aug. 14.
But first comes another summer night in an Iowa cornfield. Baseball has found worse places to spend an evening.
