The Chicago Cubs are getting into the world of romantic comedy. The MLB team has revealed a new "social-first" series set during one game.

Nine Innings to Love will be a new scripted series from the Chicago Cubs. The team will release this series on Sept. 4 on its official TikTok channel.
Set during nine innings of one game, this 17-episode series will tell the story of two fans who meet and spark a connection in unexpected ways. It draws inspiration from real world stories at the ball field.
This new series will follow "Ava (Veronica Garrubbo), an aspiring romance writer in a slump, and David (Sid Kutikkad), a sweet but love-shy seatmate who does not believe romance is real, over the course of one Cubs game.
"After an accidental bleacher meet-cute leaves them stuck together for the game, Ava makes David a promise: before the final out, she will help him find a summer fling inside Wrigley Field.
"But as Ava turns the ballpark into a Rom-Com training ground, complete with swings and misses, a makeover, a returning ex and a ninth-inning chase, she starts to realize the story she has been trying to write may be happening right in front of her."
The Cubs' creative arm, Cubs Productions, wrote the scripted series. Chicago's Coyote Sun Productions provided production services while Adam Sobel directed.
Nine Innings to Love will not be the first Rom-Com to heavily feature the Cubs. It will just be the first created by the MLB team.
Back in 2006, Jordan Spiro led a series set in the Windy City. She played a sports columnist, who navigated her love life through the lens of Chicago sports.
My Boys, which ran for 49 episodes, also featured Jim Gaffigan, Jamie Kaler, Kyle Howard, Michael Bunin, and Reid Scott.
One year prior to this comedy series, Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon starred in the Rom-Com Fever Pitch, which focused on another MLB team. This movie featured Barrymore as a workaholic and Fallon as a diehard Boston Red Sox fan.
The sports obsession initially causes problems in the relationship, but like most Rom-Coms, the couple find a happy compromise in the end.
