Kyle Larson has finally shut down the questions. He has scored his first win of the season while snapping a 51-race winless streak dating back to May 11, 2025.

The Hendrick Motorsports driver delivered on Sunday evening at World Wide Technology Raceway. He avoided the chaos that collected the majority of the Chase drivers, and he held off teammate Alex Bowman during a double overtime finish at the Illinois track.

Larson won the race while Bowman finished second. Joey Logano, William Byron, Ross Chastain, Austin Dillon, Connor Zilisch, Carson Hocevar, Denny Hamlin, and Austin Cindric all finished in the top 10. The runner-up marked Bowman's best finish this season.

The race at WWT Raceway featured no shortage of chaos, starting with a caution for Riley Herbst spinning in the first six laps. This trend continued throughout the afternoon and into the evening as the Cup Series drivers easily broke the track record for cautions (11).
They brought out the yellow flag 18 times — several times due to blown brake rotors — and they had to deal with two red flag breaks.
Through it all, Larson kept his car clean and scored massive amounts of points. He finished third in the opening stage to get eight points. He then won stage 2 under caution to get 10. His win took his total to 73 points on the day.
Now, Larson is only nine points behind Denny Hamlin after two Chase races. This puts him in a much better position to defend his title from last season.
This marked a very complete race for Larson, who had missed out on wins numerous times since Kansas Speedway in May 2025. This includes last weekend at Darlington Raceway when he lost the lead to Christopher Bell with 12 laps remaining.
"No, I haven't. I haven't doubted myself," Larson said when asked about his 51-race winless streak during his post-race interview. "I haven't doubted our team. Maybe myself at times. Never my team.

"No better time to have a great day than today. Proud of it and feel like we got our swagger back a little bit."
