BRISTOL, Tenn. — Ryan Blaney followed through on his words Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway. He went after Carson Hocevar on pit road after the race and sparked a fist fight.

"Yes, something's going to happen," Blaney told media members at the infield care center after contact from Carson Hocevar turned him into the wall on Lap 458.
Blaney did not provide any indication as to how he would handle the situation, but he soon provided an answer. He completed this interview and waited for the end of the Bristol Night Race.
He then aggressively approached Hocevar on pit road and grabbed him. Hocevar responded by throwing two punches.

Blaney's hat flew from his head, and he ended up on the ground with two Spire Motorsports crew members on top of him. He climbed to his feet and went after Hocevar once again and connected with one punch before being pulled away and escorted back to the hauler.
Once the fight ended, Hocevar flipped off Blaney and went to put his own hat back on his head. He then turned to the roaring crowd and began pumping his fist while they cheered.

"I don't know what I did wrong there," Hocevar said after the fight. "I got a run to cross him over. It looked like he spun himself and then he wants to instigate a fight.
"I was going to finish that, and, you know, it seemed like the crowd was pretty pumped up so I was going to play the audience for a second."
This fight stemmed from an incident on the track that split viewers. Some said that Blaney threw a late block as Hocevar tried to cross him over. Others said that Hocevar chose to not cut Blaney a break, wrecking him in the process.
"I just felt like he didn't lift," Blaney said. "I left him plenty of room for a lap before that. I didn't chop him. I didn't run him into the fence or nothing like I easily could have.
"I protected the bottom and he just decided he wanted to be there and didn't lift and wrecked me."

The fight ended with both drivers being separated by crew members, security, and officials. They parted ways for the night, and they will meet again in Kansas next weekend as the Chase continues.
The big question lingering is how NASCAR handles the aftermath. Will the sanctioning body fine either driver for the fight?
After all, NASCAR fined Ricky Stenhouse Jr. $75,000 after he waited for Kyle Busch at the All-Star Race and started a post-race fight in 2024. Granted, Stenhouse had to wait in the garage for several hours after his wreck. North Wilkesboro Speedway does not have a way to exit the facility when the track is active.
NASCAR won't provide the answer about this latest fight until Tuesday at the earliest. For now, however, the series' social media accounts will certainly use the video of the fight to hype up the Chase and the friction between drivers.
